Job Title: Trainee Mill Operative
Location: Birmingham
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time


Working Hours:
Training Period: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30
Post-Training: 12-hour shifts on a 4 on 4 off rota, consisting of both days and nights

About the Role:
Pertemps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee Mill Operative to join our dynamic production team. This role is perfect for individuals committed to learning and developing their skills in a manufacturing environment. You will undergo comprehensive training to become a fully trained Mill Operative, contributing to the success and growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in extensive training and development programs to acquire necessary skills and expertise.
  • Operate machinery and equipment as instructed, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or hazardous conditions promptly.
  • Maintain and develop skills to keep up with technological advancements and flexible working practices.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Perform any reasonable tasks as required by the Production Superintendents or Shift Managers.

Key Priorities in the First 6 Months:
  • Always Work safely.
  • Create a portfolio of notes from the knowledge and experience gained.
  • Build strong working relationships with line managers and operators.
  • Demonstrate progress through presentations.
  • Show initiative and self-discipline.

  • Candidate Requirements:
  • Essential: 3-5 GCSEs including English and Maths.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production/warehouse environment.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office), good communication skills, and a desire to progress.
  • Desirable: Basic health and safety knowledge, FLT licence.
