We are seeking a plasma cutter and forklift truck driver for a busy metal processing plant in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading recycling business with a presence across four continents. As such, they are keen to make a long-term investment in new staff members who are looking to build a career in the metals industry.

Main responsibilities for the Plasma Cutter role include:

• Using a plasma cutter to cut catalytic converters
• Using a hand torch to cut metal
• Operating a forklift truck to move granulated products around the shop floor
• Stripping parts using hand tools
• Sorting parts into separate categories by hand
• Working at a sampling station to help identify the concentration of precious metals in each component (e.g. platinum/rhodium)
• Picking using a computerised inventory system
• Completing general dispatch paperwork

Although you will likely be assigned a core area, it is the company’s aim to offer cross-training across multiple areas to maximise your skills and knowledge.

Workwear will be provided; however, please note that you will be required to wear a full protective mask and visor to ensure proper ventilation.

We are seeking candidates with the following core skills:

• Trustworthy and hard-working attitude
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Proven experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or process plant environment, including operating a forklift truck
• Comfortable working in a dusty environment
• Ability to use basic machinery and hand tools
• An in-date accredited Counterbalance licence would be advantageous

Hours of work: 07:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday
Rate of pay: £13.75 per hour, increasing to £14.50
