Department: Maintenance Operations – Electrical Services
Location- Coventry/ Warwickshire
Salary- up to £38,000 OTE
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join a busy maintenance team within a large, dynamic organisation. This role is vital to ensuring the smooth operation of electrical building services across the site by delivering planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance efficiently and safely. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and supporting minor installation works, all while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to job requests via the notification system, resolving electrical faults safely and effectively within agreed service levels.
- Manage emergency situations involving power supplies, emergency lighting, lighting controls, alarms, motors, BMS controls, and portable appliances.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs, coordinating with other trades to maintain essential services and ensure compliance with statutory inspections and testing (including fire alarms, emergency lighting, portable appliance testing, and periodic inspections).
- Diagnose and investigate complex issues, deciding on the best course of action and liaising with supervisors or specialists when needed.
- Provide technical advice on new installations and assist with refurbishment and new project work, including minor power system installations.
- Take ownership of health and safety by assessing risks, following risk assessments and method statements, and participating in departmental hazard reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and job resolutions via electronic systems.
- Estimate costs for contracted services and minor works and coordinate small projects following departmental guidelines and budgets.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and stakeholders to minimise disruption and deliver excellent customer service.
- Drive company vehicles as needed to transport staff, materials, and equipment across the site.
- Ensure all work areas are left clean and tidy following task completion.
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Technician or similar role, preferably within a large facilities or maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, fault diagnosis, and repairs including building services.
- Understanding of statutory compliance requirements and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- Good communication skills to liaise with a variety of colleagues and customers.
- Full driving licence desirable.

Benefits/ Salary
- UP TO £38,000 OTE
- Call out enhancements paid monthly
- Employee pays 6.1% and the University pays 14.5% of the pensionable earnings.
- 26 days leave plus four customary shut down days over Christmas, and eight statutory bank holidays
