Job Description
Sheridan Maine is seeking a highly motivated Tax Senior to join an accountancy practice in East Sussex. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of clients, contribute to complex compliance work, and provide high-quality advisory services. As a key member of the tax team, you’ll be working closely with clients, partners, and junior staff to ensure tax compliance and offer value-added tax planning advice.
Key Responsibilities as Tax Senior:
- Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns for a portfolio of clients across various industries.
- Manage HMRC correspondence, including handling client enquiries and investigations.
- Identify and advise on tax planning opportunities, including capital allowances, R&D, remuneration planning, and succession planning.
- Supervise and support junior team members with their tax work, reviews, and development.
- Liaise with colleagues across departments (accounts, audit, payroll) to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Assist with tax technical research and contribute to client meetings and presentations.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation and maintain high technical standards.
- Support the Tax Manager or Partner with ad-hoc assignments and advisory work as required.
The Successful Tax Senior Will Possess:
- Part-qualified or qualified ACA/ACCA/CTA (or equivalent), with a focus on tax.
- 2+ years of experience in a UK practice.
- Strong knowledge of UK tax compliance and legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Experience using tax software.
