Job Description
We provide an essential service, and in this role, you will be able to significantly influence our ability to supply fresh water to our millions of customers and the communities we serve, both today and in the future.
This is an exciting, high-profile position, and you will be part of the Water Leadership Team and have joint responsibility for the delivery of the Company Business Plan, Customer, Outcome Delivery Incentives (ODIs), and Performance Commitments.
Main areas of focus for the Head of Water Resources & Transmission
- Health & Safety – You will promote, lead and be accountable for the health, safety and well-being of your team and those around you by ensuring consistent safe working practices are transitioned and embedded across the team.
- Operational Performance – Management of the safe operation of our water resources while offering support and guidance on complex tasks that require industry expertise.
- Risk Management – Working closely with the Water Director to understand the regional risks that exists throughout the transition and as the operation is embedded into the regional teams.
- Finance – You will be managing the TOTEX budget for all water resource assets over £100m, as well as the operational budget for the Thames water Ring Main and associated assets.
- As a partner to the wider leadership team, you will share insight and trends on cost drivers and potential efficiencies. You will also present costing plans to deliver operational performance.
- People & Engagement - Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we have consistent cross-regional cultural plans within the operational teams and embed a culture aligned to Thames Water values.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week.
What you should bring to the role
- Senior operational experience within the water industry, utilities or large production or infrastructure environment with the ability to manage a complex Totex budget of more than £100m.
- Broad understanding of the industry, business, regulatory framework and market and the ability to apply commercial acumen to strategic planning.
- Ability to influence at senior stakeholder level and experience managing external contractor teams.
- Successful organisational operational delivery with people and change management experience.
- Track record of delivery within general management and senior positions, along with appreciable experience across a range of functions.
- Competitive salary up to £80,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
