Job Description
This forward-thinking alternative provision in Birmingham is seeking a committed and adaptable Humanities Teacher to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Humanities Teacher who is passionate about engaging students who have faced barriers to mainstream education and who thrives in a smaller, more personalised teaching environment.
As a humanities teacher, you will be teaching small classes of secondary-aged students, delivering engaging lessons across subjects such as History, RE, Health & Social Care, and related humanities pathways. The setting offers strong leadership, clear structures, and a supportive staff team who work together to help students succeed both academically and personally.
Job Role:
- Teach Humanities subjects to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
- Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual needs
- Differentiate effectively to support students with SEMH and additional learning needs
- Manage behaviour confidently and consistently within a structured setting
- Work closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff to support students
- Track progress and support students working towards qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Confidence working with students who display challenging behaviour
- A flexible, patient, and resilient approach to teaching
- A genuine commitment to helping students re-engage with learning
- Small class sizes with strong support in lessons
