Job Description

STEM Academic Coach – Graduate Support Role

Looking to build hands-on experience across science, maths, and technology before a career in teaching or industry?

*** STEM Academic Coach
*** £80 – £110 per day
*** September 2025 – July 2026
*** School Location: Ward of Yardley
*** 1:1 and small group support in the STEM subjects at KS3 and KS4

The Role
You’ll support students across Key Stage 3 and 4 in science, maths, and computing – focusing on improving understanding, boosting engagement, and closing learning gaps. You’ll deliver targeted interventions in small groups or one-to-one, helping pupils master challenging content and build their exam readiness.
You’ll work closely with subject teachers to reinforce key concepts, provide practical help during experiments or projects, and contribute to a positive learning environment across STEM departments.

The Candidate
You’re a STEM graduate – science, engineering, maths, or computing – with strong subject knowledge and a clear interest in working with young people. You’re enthusiastic, reliable, and confident explaining complex ideas in a way pupils can understand. If you’ve got tutoring, mentoring, or school experience, even better.
This role is ideal if you're considering teaching, educational outreach, or simply want a meaningful year of work experience within education.

The School
Based in Yardley, this inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school has a collaborative teaching culture and a strong focus on pupil progress. Graduate Academic Coaches are treated as valued members of the team and receive ongoing support and development throughout the year.
