Job Description
Can you help Year 6 pupils feel more prepared and less overwhelmed before SATs? Are you looking for a primary school role that gives you strong experience ahead of teacher training?
*** KS2 Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2026 – July 2027
*** £85 - £105 per day
*** Large primary school, Ward of Yardley
*** Prepare KS2 pupils for SATs examinations in May 2027
The Role:
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support for KS2 pupils in the lead-up to SATs. You will focus on reading, SPaG, and Maths, help pupils close gaps in learning, support revision, and keep teachers updated on progress. The statutory KS2 tests in 2027 are timetabled from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2027.
The Candidate:
You are encouraging, organised, and able to explain ideas clearly to older primary pupils. You want practical classroom experience, enjoy helping children build confidence in core subjects, and are keen to develop the skills and judgement needed for a future in teaching. Primary teaching focuses on the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 3 to 11, which makes this a strong foundation for teacher training.
Requirements
- Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
- Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
The School:
This large primary school in the Ward of Yardley offers the chance to build valuable experience in a setting where progress, consistency, and targeted support matter. You will work closely with KS2 staff in a role that gives you direct exposure to intervention work, exam preparation, and the day-to-day routines that shape pupil outcomes in upper primary. Teaching assistants commonly support teachers in the classroom and help children with reading, writing, and learning activities.
