The Role
A secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials to join their department from April 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.
The role involves teaching Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging, practical lessons that develop students’ creativity, technical skills, and understanding of design processes. You will support pupils in both workshop and food technology environments, ensuring safe and effective use of equipment while preparing them for GCSE Design Technology qualifications.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining a safe, organised, and stimulating learning environment.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (ECTs welcome to apply)
- Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
- Be confident delivering Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials
- Have strong knowledge of health & safety procedures in practical settings
- Demonstrate effective classroom management and organisational skills
